Organisation structure

A new structure for a new direction

NCMA introduced a new organisational structure on 1 July 2011. The new structure supports the delivery of NCMA’s new vision, mission and strategy.

NCMA’s new strategy will develop NCMA into a professional membership association that enables all its members to achieve the highest standards of care and learning for children. Together with our members, we will build recognition of their professionalism.

The new strategy was created following extensive consultation with members which made clear what really mattered most to them as professionals, and how they wanted NCMA to support them to deliver high quality services to the children and families they support.

Shaping up for a new future

Led by joint chief executives Catherine Farrell and Liz Bayram, NCMA is now formed of these key departments:

Membership

Including Contracts and Services, Corporate Business Development, Marketing and Communications and Membership Services. This team focuses on:

  • Designing, delivering and evaluating NCMA’s integrated membership services through the effective development, marketing, positioning and selling of our membership schemes, products and services
  • Developing new membership benefits
  • Delivering projects and services for local authorities and other partners both in the public and private sector in England and Wales.

Professional Standards

Including Standards, Development and Quality and External Relations. This department is charged with defining, implementing and monitoring the professional standards for members which ensure:

  • The highest levels of quality and professional integrity
  • A clear professional development pathway for registered childminders
  • Supportive policy development through proactive lobbying and influencing in both England and Wales.

Corporate Services

Including Corporate Planning, Facilities, Finance, ICT, Human Resources and Legal Services.

Delivering an effective corporate planning and management function, as well as customer focused finance, human resources, legal services, risk management, facilities and health and safety are essential to our success. This team works together with other departments to ensure that our management systems and operations are fit for purpose.

In this digital age it is important that NCMA has the infrastructure and technological capacity to maximise the potential of existing and emerging technologies to deliver our new strategy.

We have recognised the increasing emphasis our members are placing on effective online delivery of our services and our ICT team will focus on ensuring we harness these new technologies to improve the service we offer to our members.

We believe our new structure will ensure we achieve our goal of becoming the professional association for home-based childcare and learning, offering everything members need to be excellent practitioners.
