Manifesto

In the run-up to the 2010 General
Election, childminder and nanny members of NCMA in England and
Wales sent copies of NCMA's manifesto to the candidates standing in
their constituencies, asking them to sign up to four key
principles:
- to improve access and parental
choice
- to invest in quality
- to support parents with the cost of
childcare
- to improve recognition of the role
and status of home-based childcare.
The manifesto was launched at the
House of Commons in March 2010, two months before the General
Election, with an audience of childminders and children, parents,
MPs, peers, DCSF and Ofsted officials and other representatives
from the childcare sector.
NCMA's power
The strength of NCMA is in the united
voice of its members. The support of NCMA's members
helped ensure that our message reached policy-makers, helping
to make a real difference.
Now the new coalition government is in
office, NCMA continues to promote home-based childcare and campaign
on the issues that are important to you.
