Active Learning
Active Learning is fun learning! To help support
childminders with the introduction of the Early Years Foundation
Stage (EYFS), NCMA has produced a useful book, Active Learning.
Active Learning from NCMA
It's been designed to help childminders recognise the ways that
the everyday activities they do with the children they care for fit
into the areas of learning and development set out in the EYFS.
For each area of learning and development, Active Learning has a
list of activities and suggestions of how childminders can
contribute to the children's learning and development.
And for each area
of development, the book shows how one childminder, Lisa, includes
the learning and development area in her work and recognises that
everything is an opportunity for children to learn. There's also a
breakdown of how Lisa's activities link to the other areas of
learning and development, showing how the different areas of the
EYFS are interconnected and reflect how children learn.
