Over-7s childminders

Over-7s childminders care only for children aged 8 and older.
They do not need to be registered or inspected by Ofsted or the
Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW). However, they
can choose, in England, to join the Ofsted Childcare Register or,
in Wales, the Childcare Approval
Scheme Wales.
Over-7s childminders are self-employed and negotiate a contract
for their services with parents, much like registered
childminders.
Advantages of using an over-7s childminder include:
- Supervised school pick-ups and drop-offs
- Support with homework
- Your child will be with others of their age
- Your child can easily take part in local and after-school
activities
- Care before and after school and in the holidays.
