Hard and Fast - CPR advice
The British Heart Foundation’s new campaign
shows actor Vinnie Jones demonstrating compression-only CPR.
The campaign is aimed at people with no
first-aid training, giving them a clear idea of how they could help
save someone’s life in the event of a cardiac arrest.
Trained healthcare professionals, first-aiders
and those who use first aid in their work, including registered
childminders, should use the full CPR they were taught in their
training.
Childminders in England must have a paediatric
first-aid certificate at the point of registration. The course must
be approved by the local authority and meet the requirements of the EYFS.
The certificate should be renewed every three years.
In Wales, the childminder must have completed an appropriate
first-aid course which includes training in first-aid for infants
and young children before starting childminding. A current first
aid certificate must be maintained.
Knowledge that their childcarer has had
training in lifesaving skills for infants and children is another
reason parents trust registered childminders to care for their
children.
