Influence government policy
There are a number of policy consultations taking place that are
of interest to registered childminders and we'd love to hear about
what you think and help you respond.
If you have something to say about the work of Ofsted, Early
Years training and qualifications, delivering free early education
and the requirement for childminders to register as food
businesses, the read on, because now is the chance for you to have
your say.
Delivery of free early education (Closes 3rd February)
You still have time to have your say on how practitioners should
be able to deliver free early education for 2-, 3- and 4-year-old
children.
The proposals will determine which 2-year-olds will qualify for
the places; if the places should be delivered between 7am and 7pm,
and spread across two days instead of the current three days; and
what eligibility requirements providers need to meet to deliver
free early education places.
You can inform the national NCMA response by taking this survey. You
can also
respond directly to the Department for Education.
The requirement for childminders to register as food businesses
(Closes 6th February)
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is reviewing the current
registration requirements for childminders in England. NCMA is
supporting the FSA to meet with childminders across the country to
talk through the issues and you can inform the national NCMA
response by completing a short survey and also respond directly to
the FSA. Read more
details here.
Ofsted consultation (Closes 6th April)
Ofsted has launched a consultation on their proposed changes to
the regulation and inspection of those on the Early Years Register,
for implementation from September 2012. They are seeking views from
registered childminders on a range of issues. to Find out how you

via their website.
There are only a few days left but....
Early Years Training and qualifications (closes 24th
January)
NCMA is responding to the independent review into qualifications
in the early education and childcare sector, led by Professor Cathy
Nutbrown. The Review is examining how best to strengthen training,
qualifications and career pathways in childcare and early learning,
both for people new to the early education and childcare sector and
those already employed there.
You can still
respond to the review team directly.
