Don't Fall Victim to Scams
NCMA has been made aware of a number childminders who have been
targeted by an email scam.
The email asks whether a childminder can provide care for a
child, usually coming from a different country, and offers to pay
by cheque in advance.
The scam works by the fraudster sending a cheque for far more
than the original amount. When the childminder queries the
overpayment, they are asked to write a cheque for the difference
which is then cashed before the childminder realises that the
original cheque has bounced.
