NCMA on Woman's Hour
NCMA was invited to speak on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour on
Tuesday 31 March.
The topic of discussion followed the release of Ofsted's quarterly
figures which suggest a further decline in the numbers of
registered childminders. The programme wanted to know if this was
due to the introduction of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Liz Bayram, NCMA's Chief Executive, was interviewed alongside NCMA
member Eileen Atkinson, from Hounslow, who had recently been
inspected. Liz was able to answer questions on how childminders are
doing in providing the EYFS and to encourage childminders thinking
of leaving or who have left to rethink their decision after talking
to colleagues who are happily delivering the framework.
Liz also stressed that a number of other factors may be responsible
for the decline in numbers.
