A manifesto for home-based childcare
NCMA is launching its election
manifesto today at the House of Commons.
The manifesto, called
Childcare Choices for Children and
Families, will be presented on the terrace of the
House of Commons at an event sponsored by the Chair of the All
Party Parliamentary Group on Childcare, Joan Humble MP.
NCMA's President Dame Gillian Pugh
will address the event as will Chair of NCMA, Susanna Dawson,
Conservative Spokesperson for the Family, Maria Miller MP, and
Baroness Walmsley, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Children,
Schools and Families. The Children's Minister was invited, but is
unable to attend.
Over 100 guests including MPs,
Peers, childcare organisations, press and NCMA staff are expected
to attend. Also attending are registered childminders who live
and work near Westminster, who will be there with the children
they care for. Some of the childminders will be meeting with
their local MP to tell them all about how registered childminders
provide quality childcare in their constituency.
This launch starts a campaign
urging all NCMA members to write to their local MP/AM or
Parliamentary Candidate asking them to support the only manifesto
representing home-based childcare.
Photos from the event will be
published here shortly.
