Active Kids vouchers
NCMA contacted Sainsbury's and they have
stated that the Active Kids Programme is not open to registered
childminders.
Currently only nurseries and schools, scout
and guide groups and clubmark accredited sports clubs can
register.
NCMA understands that in previous years some
childminders have taken part in the scheme. Sainsbury's has
confirmed to NCMA that these childminders were mistakenly
allowed to registered on the scheme.
NCMA is disappointed that this is the case and
has opened discussions with Sainsbury's about the possibility
of registered childminders being able to join the programme when it
is launched again next year.
NCMA believes that registered
childminders would make a significant contribution to the
aims of the programme and that families who choose home-based
childcare should not have their children excluded from benefiting
from the scheme.
