Manifesto launch
(NCMA press office, 5 March 2010)
NCMA General Election Manifesto Launch - Is your MP attending?
With a general election expected shortly, the
National Childminding Association will be launching a manifesto
calling on the next UK Government to support home-based childcare
and ensure that families in every community have access to
high-quality, home-based childcare, play, learning and family
support so they can help children reach their full potential
To have maximum impact the manifesto will
be launched at an event in the heart of
Westminster at the House of Commons on
Thursday 18 March.
Joan Humble MP, who chairs the All
Party Parliamentary Group on Childcare, is hosting the event
and a number of children and and grown ups
(childminders, parents and key NCMA staff and volunteers)
have been invited to attend to present the manifesto to
Parliamentarians and key decision-makers from across the childcare
sector.
All MPs are able to attend but will your local
MP be coming along to hear about the benefits of home-based
childcare from NCMA and registered childminders?
A strength of NCMA is the united voice of its
members. If you contact your local MP to encourage them
to attend the event and take away a copy of the manifesto, your
help could ensure that this message reaches all the key
decision-makers and has the potential to make a real
difference.
NCMA has prepared some text that you can use
to send as an email or letter to your local MP to
encourage them to attend. This is available from tim.farrow@ncma.org.uk. These
letters and emails can be "topped and tailed" with your
address to show you live within the MPs constituency. You can
find the contact details of your MP at findyourmp.parliament.uk.
