NCMA research opportunity
NCMA Research team (18/02/10)
NCMA has recently appointed research
organisation GfK NOP to undertake research into training for
childminders.
This work will have two strands, the
first of which will comprise interviews with staff in 22
local authorities to explore their plans for providing and
funding qualification-related training to childminders in their
area.
The second strand will involve focus
groups and telephone interviews with childminders, looking at their
views of training, and exploring the factors that enable
childminders to undertake further training/qualifications or
prevent them from doing so.
Related to this, it will also
look at the way childminders work in their local
areas, exploring their involvement in children's centres
and childminding networks and groups.
If you live in the
following areas and would like to put yourself
forward for a telephone interview, please contact Martin Carmichael on 01959
562994.
- North West England
- Yorkshire and the
Humber
- South West England
- East Midlands
- South East England (excluding
London).
Childminders who meet the
recruitment criteria and are selected to participate will be
remunerated for their time.
Childminders in London, the North
East, the West Midlands and the East of England will be recruited
separately for focus groups.
If you have any queries about the
research, please contact Rebecca Loader, Research and Policy
Officer, on 020 290 2539.
