Quality childcare would make a difference to EYFS
profile results.
Commenting on the Early Years Foundation Stage
Profile results 2008/9 released by Department for Children, Schools
and Families, Andrew Fletcher, Joint Chief Executive of
National Childminding Association said;
"NCMA welcomes the new Early Years Foundation
Stage Profile Results for 2008/9 which show that many children
are developing well in their early years. However, among
minority ethnic groups and low-income families - where take up of
formal childcare is relatively low - the results show a need
for a concerted effort to ensure that these families receive
support to access quality childcare; this would improve their
children’s development opportunities before they start formal
education.
"To encourage more take up of formal
childcare, a stronger emphasis is needed on developing a more
diverse childcare sector, with a greater proportion of men and
childminders from minority ethnic groups to represent the diverse
communities they live in."
