Celebrating our achievements
Hazel Howard from Staffordshire was delighted that her hard
work paid off when she received Outstanding from Ofsted this
year.
She spoke to NCMA about the work she does to encourage
children’s aspirations.
"A 4-year-old girl in my setting has said she wants to be a
doctor for the last two years. I have a doctor’s play set in my
home and this little girl always likes to play with it. Her mum is
a teacher. If that is her career wish when she grows up I hope I
can go someway to encouraging her.
"I aspire to be the best I can be and will be celebrating the
achievements I’ve made this year and those of my colleagues.
"I have invested a lot of time in developing and learning about
my profession, and I am now on a Foundation Degree course. I would
like to see more registered childminders benefit from the support
Staffordshire County Council has given me in funding my training.
It makes such a difference, the proof is in the pudding as I now
have been judged Outstanding by Ofsted."
National Childminding Week runs from 4-11
June. This year’s theme is Aspiration, and during the week NCMA
will be highlighting the great work registered childminders and
nannies do in helping children to consider their future
aspirations.
The week will also celebrate the aspirations
of registered childminders and nannies in increasing their
professional development and future career opportunities.
