Training breeds confidence
Caroline Ince from Buckinghamshire talks about the role of
registered childminders in developing children’s aspirations and
also about her aspirations for registered childminding.
"Childminders definitely have an important role to play in
helping children develop confidence in themselves as well as a
desire to explore and learn from an early age. We are also able to
offer them new and different experiences which help to broaden
their horizons.
"Gaining a formal qualification is a good way of ensuring a
basic knowledge of child development, the early years curriculum,
planning, observations and assessments, and offers recognition for
professional knowledge and practice. But gaining a level 3 or even
a degree or Early Years Professional status shouldn't be seen as
the ultimate goal. I think continuous professional development is
really important to ensure that your practice stays fresh and
relevant."
Buckinghamshire Childminders will be celebrating with a large
event at the Goat Centre in Aylesbury. Visit the National
Childminding Week events page for more details.
National Childminding Week runs from 4-11
June. This year’s theme is Aspiration, and during the week NCMA
will be highlighting the great work registered childminders and
nannies do in helping children to consider their future
aspirations.
The week will also celebrate the aspirations
of registered childminders and nannies in increasing their
professional development and future career opportunities.
