NCMA member wins Childminder of the Year 2011
Congratulations to NCMA member Lynda Milton, named as
Childminder of the Year 2011 at the Nursery World Awards this
month. Lynda was nominated by parent Helen Haglethorn for always
going the extra mile to support both the children in her care and
their families.
Helen said, “I can honestly say that Lynda
loves the children as if they were her own. The stimulating daily
routine that she lays on for them to allow them to learn and
develop in all areas is incredible and is carried out with such
enthusiasm – she really does bring the perfect combination of
motherly love and energetic professionalism to all that she
does.”
One child in Lynda’s care hugely benefited from her fun, loving
and nurturing environment. The little girl’s grandmother said,
“When my granddaughter first came to Lynda, she was very unsettled
and hard work. But under Lynda's care she blossomed into a very
happy and vocal little girl. The support and care from Lynda has
been priceless. She is just about the most amazing person I have
ever met and her own children must be so proud to have her as a
parent. Lynda is not just a childminder, she is family.”
Lynda said, “I’m amazed, this nomination and award is an honour.
It’s so rewarding to work with children and watch how they
continually change and develop and to evolve with them.”
All of the Nursery World Childminder of the Year nominees were
NCMA members and include Helen Wynne from Wrexham, who was highly
commended for her unwavering commitment to support children with
disabilities. Victoria Howard from Haydock, was also a finalist for
the award, for her commitment to the highest standard of
childcare.
