Give me strength

4Children’s Give Me Strength campaign demands more help for
families to deal with problems at an early stage, before they
become crises.
The campaign outlines the importance of supporting families
struggling with problems like postnatal depression. A survey
carried out by 4Children and Bounty shows that half of women don’t
seek treatment for postnatal depression. Of these, one third feel
scared to admit they have postnatal depression for fear of the
consequences for themselves or their child.
What do you need?
Along with healthcare workers, childminders
and nannies are well placed to help families cope, offering
flexible childcare and working in partnership with parents to
nurture their child’s development.
We're aware that many NCMA members are already
playing a supportive role, caring for children that have families
grappling with difficulties, such as postnatal depression,
divorce, bereavement, step families, health problems etc.
Do you feel that you have enough knowledge of
these issues and support to deal with them adequately? Tell us
below.
