Importance of support
NCMA highlights the importance of support for childminders
Following the release this week of Ofsted’s
2010/11 Annual Report, NCMA wants to highlight that the most recent data from Ofsted shows that the
proportion of registered childminders achieving good or outstanding
gradings at inspection, and meeting the learning needs of children,
has risen to 71%.
There is of course always room for improvement
and there are a number of key areas which will be critical to
supporting this improvement.
Firstly, the introduction of the revised EYFS
next year, with its commitment to a reduction in the number of
learning goals and paperwork burden, which will support all
providers with improved implementation.
Secondly, the provision of EYFS training and
support to providers, currently under threat as local authorities
address cut back requirements, which will be vital to the success
of EYFS in its revised form.
And finally, the work NCMA is currently
undertaking to launch new peer to peer networks, which will enable
childminders to come together to share experience and learn
together.
NCMA is committed to supporting our members to deliver the
highest standards of care and learning for children, and parents
looking for childminders can be assured that the high percentage
achieving good or outstanding at inspection is evidence that the
vast majority of childminders are delivering a quality learning
experience to children.
