Jump around kids!

The Government’s new physical activity guidelines for the early years, children and young people were issued on 11 July.

They highlight the importance of minimising the time that babies and children spend being sedentary, in order to promote healthy lifestyles and development.

For babies, physical activity should be encouraged from birth, particularly through floor-based play and water-based activities, whilst toddlers should be physically active daily for at least three hours, spread throughout the day. Children over 5 and young people should undertake physical activity for at least 50 minutes and up to several hours every day.
