Membership survey news
NCMA’s membership survey will be
published over the next few weeks. To whet your appetite, here are
a few stats from this year’s survey. Look out for the full report
on the website soon!
Childminders
- A typical
NCMA childminder member is aged 35-44, has been childminding for
more than five years, and looks after six children in
total.
- The average
fee charged by childminders is £3.90 per hour, up from £3.84 in
2010.
- Childminders
most commonly care for children aged 1-2 years old, with 75% doing
so. Sixty-nine per cent care for children aged 3-4 years old, and
the same proportion care for 5-7-year-olds.
- Seventeen
per cent of childminder members who care for 3- and 4-year-olds are
providing the free entitlement to the children in their care,
while eleven per cent do
so for the 2-year-olds they care
for.
- One in five childminder members cares for
disabled children and children with special educational needs.
- Fifteen per cent of childminder members
provide childcare for children and families funded social services,
most commonly emergency childcare, respite childcare and family
support services.
- Fifty-one per cent of childminder members
have achieved a childcare qualification at level 3 or above.
- Ninety-five per cent of childminder members
reported themselves ‘very satisfied’ or ‘somewhat satisfied’ with
their membership.
