Delay to funding formula welcomed
NCMA Press office (11/12/09)
Following the Secretary of State's announcement that the Early
Years Single Funding Formula will be postponed to April 2011, the
National Childminding Association has welcomed this approach.
Catherine Farrell, Joint Chief Executive of NCMA said: "NCMA
welcomes the decision by government to delay the roll out of the
Early Years Single Funding Formula (EYSFF). During the pilot phase
differences in approach across local authorities meant that there
were variations in hourly rates for childminders. In some areas
rates offered were lower than average market rates. We believe that
the application of the EYSFF should take into account the unique
way in which childminders deliver the free entitlement, for
example, the smaller adult to child ratios, and reflect the high
quality care delivered.
“NCMA looks forward to working with the pathfinder local
authorities to establish a consistent and transparent approach to
funding childminders and hopes that wider implementation will
deliver parity across authorities.”
