Childminders and food

Josephine Oyet and Dr Patricia MucaveleNCMA registered childminder member Josephine Oyet hosted a visit recently from Dr Patricia Mucavele. 
 
Patricia is the School Food Trust's Research Manager and secretariat of the Advisory Panel on Food and Nutrition in Early Years on which NCMA is representing registered childminders
 
Josephine explained to Patricia how she ensures the children in her setting get a balanced diet, how they learn about where food comes from, how she plans menus and purchases food, and how she takes account of specific dietary requirements. 
 
Josephine was also able to highlight to Patricia where she felt more guidance or information was needed to support childminders in food provision.
