NCMA membership survey
NCMA's annual membership survey was released today
and shows that NCMA registered childminder members are doing
well in their inspections and expect to stay in business over the
next year. Registered childminders are providing high-quality
childcare and excelling in business, despite the recession and
legislative changes.
1001 NCMA members were interviewed over the
telephone on a range of issues linked to their business and career,
including access to training and development, type of care, hours
provided and fees.
Key findings also include:
- 79 per cent of all respondents had undertaken training in the
last year
- 89 per cent of members expected to still be childminding in 12
months time
- Nine out of ten childminders have provided, or are willing to
provide, care for pre-school or school aged children during the
holidays
- 72 per cent surveyed said they received a ‘good’ or
‘outstanding’ grade in their most recent inspection in England, a
nine per cent increase on last year
Catherine Farrell and Liz Bayram,
Joint Chief Executives, said:
"We are delighted that NCMA members are
continuing to improve their practice with a large proportion of
those surveyed in England achieving the highest grades possible in
their inspections. It is also encouraging to read that nine out of
ten childminder members expect to remain in business over the next
year.
"The survey results show that members clearly value the support,
information and tools NCMA offer to run a childminding
business. Nine out of ten members said the expertise and
support NCMA provided them was either 'excellent' or 'good'".
