Childminding practice research report

On Tuesday 9 November, NCMA attended a seminar at which NCB presented the results of the first stage of their study into childminding practice in England.

This comprised a survey with a random sample of childminders across England, with particular attention paid to the five authorities where the subsequent stages of the work will take place: Cambridgeshire, Camden, Doncaster, Hampshire and Leicester City.

The survey asked questions on topics including:

  • characteristics of provision
  • quality
  • commitment to childminding
  • job satisfaction
  • relationship with parents
  • sources of support
  • knowledge/perceptions of EYFS.
