Feeding under-5s
Part of providing quality childcare means many registered
childminders provide food throughout the day for the children in
their care. Although currently there are no "official" government
guidelines on nutrition for under-5s, there are resources available
from the Caroline Walker Trust.
The Caroline Walker Trust (CWT) was established in 1988, and is
dedicated to the improvement of public health through good
food. Their experience and knowledge in this area is well
respected and the Trust sits alongside NCMA as a member of the
School Food Trust’s Advisory Panel on Food and Nutrition in
Early Years.
Download the Caroline Walker Trust’s
guidelines on nutrition for under-5s and see what other resources
are available to purchase at the Caroline
Walker Trust website.
The School Food Trust recently completed a
survey on the existing guidance available for early years providers
on food and nutrition which closed on 17 September 2010. You can
read about this here.
