Keep EYFS as it is
Registered childminders were among other early years and
childcare providers surveyed by the Institute of Education on
their views of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
The overwhelming majority of the those surveyed said they wanted
to keep the EYFS as it is. Coverage of this report is available
online in weekly magazine,
Nursery World.
The report, Practitioners' Experiences of the Early Years
Foundation Stage, was commissioned by the then Department for
Children, Schools and Families and conducted by the Institute for
Education. It concluded that there was "overwhelming
satisfaction with the current requirements", but noted that there
were criticisms of the framework's implementation. This is the view
shared by NCMA's National Policy Forum.
Practitioners reported only wanting minor changes to the
framework. This study comes ahead of the deadline for responding to
the consultation on the review of the EYFS. NCMA is encouraging its
members to make their feelings known and respond to the
consultation individually. The questions are available to download
from the
Department for Education website and deadline is 30 September
2010.
