Labour support for childcare
At a fringe event this weekend, called
"Childcare: what next for family and early years services?",
organised by the Childcare Forum, of which NCMA is a member, Helen
Goodman MP, Shadow Work and Pension Secretary expressed her support
for continued expansion of childcare provision.
The fringe event held on Sunday 26 September
in Manchester, was well attended and other speakers included: Kitty
Usher, Director of think tank, Demos; and Cllr John Merry, Leader
of Salford City Council.
The panel all supported provision of universal
childcare as a way of reducing child poverty. Support for using
childcare to provide early intervention to improve a child’s life,
socially and economically.
NCMA is attending all three main political
party events this autumn. You can read about the Liberal Democrats
fringe event here.
