MP visit in Wales
NCMA regularly helps arrange visits for MPs and Assembly
Members who want to find out more about home-based childcare.
These visits are designed to highlight the work of registered
childminders and nannies and give politicians a better idea of what
providing home-based childcare involves.
On Friday 3 September, Roger Williams, MP for
Brecon and Radnorshire, visited Alice Mayo in Builth Wells. They
were joined by Catrin Fletcher, Director of NCMA Cymru.
Mr Williams met Alice to discuss her role as a
childminder and the issues affecting her. He also spoke to parents
about the key benefits of using a childminder.
Mr Williams was able to observe a successful
childminding setting and got to see how the children interact with
each other and with the childminder. Over a cup of tea, Catrin
Fletcher outlined the important role childminders have in
communities across Wales and the contribution they are making to
the lives of children and families along with the wider benefits
for local communities.
Mr Williams was very pleased to be given the
opportunity and thanked Alice and NCMA for arranging the visit.
