New home-based course on offer
A brand new dedicated training course has
been developed by the Children’s Workforce Development Council in
consultation with NCMA.
The home-based unit is an introductory
course for those preparing to become registered childminders or
beginning work as a nanny. It is also an optional unit of the new
Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce,
being launched next month and provides four credits towards the
complete diploma.
Ian Dalzell, Interim Director of
Membership and Professional Development said:
"NCMA has worked hard to ensure that this
unit meets the needs of the home-based childcare workforce. It is
completely flexible, allowing for independent home study, online
study, traditional class tutoring or a combination of all
three.
"The course comprises seven modules and a
Skills for Life assessment which NCMA feels will help registered
childminders and nannies to gain all the relevant knowledge they
need to provide a high-quality childcare service."
Prospective childminders and nannies will
be able to access this new unit with NCMA through a number of
different options. These include; e-learning; classroom sessions;
or for those with an existing childcare background there is
independent study.
All three options will be accompanied by a
text book published by Pearson which has been specifically written
to accompany the course with contributions to the content by
NCMA.
Registration on the Home-based unit is
available now and anyone interested in should email: newdiploma@ncma.org.uk
