Ofsted Annual Report
Ofsted has released its Annual Report today. The report looks at
the standards of Education, Early Years and Childcare, Social Care
and Adult Education for the period between September 2009 and
August 2010.
The report shows that the quality of childminding is still
rising, with those on quality improvement schemes achieving higher
grades. However, in areas of deprivation, the care is not as good
as in other areas. A point Leslie Forsyth, Interim Director of
Operations at NCMA says more must be done about:
"It is excellent that the
overall standard of care provided by registered childminders
is continuing to increase, with 66 per cent achieving a good
or outstanding Ofsted grade. However, more must be done to
support childminders in deprived areas to improve their quality of
care, so that all children have access to the same opportunities
regardless of where they live.
"NCMA welcomes Ofsted’s acknowledgment in this
report of clear evidence that childminders who are part of quality
assurance schemes - such as childminding networks - are more likely
to achieve good or outstanding grades."
A copy of the report is available to view on
