Integrated centres
In Wales, Integrated Children's Centres
(ICCs) are based on the concept that providing integrated
education, care, family support and health services is a key factor
in determining good outcomes for children and their parents,
ensuring the best start in life.
Each integrated children's centre will have at its
core:
- early years education
- childcare
- open access play
- community education and training.
NCMA Cymru staff have well-developed
relationships with ICCs, which helps foster a partnership approach
to the delivery of childcare services by linking together a network
of providers.
By working with ICCs, NCMA Cymru and partner
organisations are able to share information and coordinate work
helping parents and children benefit from a more joined-up approach
to childcare services. Examples of this partnership work include
the sharing of training facilities and resources or the joint
publicising of events of interest to childminders and families.
Some NCMA Cymru staff are based within ICCs,
helping to develop the sharing of resources and information at a
local level.
There are more than 40 ICCs in Wales, with at
least one in every local authority area. For information on your
nearest ICC, please contact your local
Family Information Service.
